Professional Coaching

Coaching for TV, film and digital professionals

I am a coach that helps people make a positive change within their careers, businesses and working relationships. We all face challenges in our professional lives, and often we can get stuck in a particular way of thinking and behaving, which sometimes isn’t helpful.

Coaching can be a powerful tool to help someone achieve a whole new way of viewing their world. The goal is to try to help unlock someone’s potential by finding new perspectives on the challenges they face, which then will hopefully lead to new solutions.

I became attracted to coaching through my consultancy work with TV and film businesses. I observed that much of the professional support and development in our industry is focussed on craft skills, and less on personal development and behavioural change compared with other sectors. For many of the freelancers and owners of small to medium sized production companies that I’ve worked with, professional support and development programmes aren’t as easily available as they are for those working within larger organisations.

As someone who has benefited from professional management and development programmes within organisations like the BBC and Channel 4, as well as part of my MBA, I realised that many in our industry were missing out on this type of development. For me, focussing on the psychology of how we as individuals work and how teams function can help open up whole new ways of thinking as well as build empathy and understanding of those around us. In such a fluid industry, I believe that this is especially true for those at the coal face of TV and film production - freelancers and owners of small to medium sized indies.

My ambition is to help people either running their own businesses or freelancers outside of the larger corporations who are seeking the time and space to unpick whatever barriers they are experiencing within their careers to help them come up with a plan to achieve their professional ambitions.

I have a Professional Certificate in Executive Coaching from Henley Business School, which is accredited by the ICF.

I work with people across the creative industries at different levels and usually we have one to three coaching sessions, although this is flexible:

  • Mid to senior managers across TV, film and digital

  • Leaders and owners of production companies and agencies

  • Freelancers looking to grow their careers.
